Findhorn NVC Intensive
with Kit Miller, Dominic Barter and Leo Sofer.

24th to 30th July 2010.

The skills associated with Nonviolent Communication (NVC) nurture a consciousness of compassion, strength and flexibility, inviting profound personal and social change.

In this training we will explore the inner work that NVC opens the door to, refining our connection to our deepest dreams and hopes for a better world. We'll explore the changes in relationships that this work invites, the light it can shine on all the ways we interract, with lovers, friends and colleagues, as well as with the social systems and power structures within which we live. We'll look at ways to ground this new awareness in social change work and other practical action that can move us towards the kind of world we want to live in.

The format of the week is unpredictable, informal, and supportive. It includes presentation, discussion, exercises, small groups and simulations. Participants requests are key to how the week unfolds. Taking responsibility for your learning and experience is an offer that is repeatedly extended.

For those new to NVC there will for the first few days be an "intro stream" to cover some of the basic principles of this work. Throughout the week there will be break-out sessions on whatever topics are of interest to participants. There will be daily time to listen and be heard in small groups, times to relax and explore the beautiful surrounding countryside, and time to connect with the life of the Findhorn Community.

This is the fourth annual Findhorn NVC Intensive, and follows on from the visit to Findhorn in 2006 of Marshall Rosenberg, the founder of NVC. It is based in The Park, in the heart of the Findhorn Community.

This training is suitable for:

  • People with no NVC experience (there will be an "intro stream")
  • People wishing to broaden and deepen their Nonviolent Communication Skills
  • Experienced NVC students, including those who wish to share NVC with others, who wish to experience new approaches to NVC training.

Feedback from the 2009 Findhorn NVC Intensive:

"I liked the 'immersion' style of the training. I liked watching the process unfold and seeing Dom, Kit and Leo model the living principles. I am deeply grateful for your perseverence over the past years to learn and investigate the underlying truths to which NVC directs attention - and your generosity in sharing what you've discovered. It eases my exploration to have your clarity and ideas available."

"The focalisers were skilled, transparent, very, very real, human, inspiring, willing to meet all sorts of random needs, and self aware. They were good humoured and great role-models. This was an enormous opportunity to participate in a way of building community based on a willingness to be true to myself and to honour and engage with the truth of others in a constructive way."

"I enjoyed the freedom to explore the meaning of NVC and to discover something unexpected."

"Everything about this training was better than I could imagine or expect. The trainers were the embodiment of the practice they are guiding us towards, and a true inspiration and model of the deepest essence of NVC, compassion and spiritual values. I experienced real healing and a deep shift within me that is now part of me and is totally unlike a "learning" that can be forgotten or eroded with time."

"I feel more hopeful about our ability to live sustainably and happily on the planet."

Feedback from the 2008 Findhorn NVC Intensive:

"Thank you for a massively rich, inspiring and useful week. It really has given me something exciting and tangible to chew on!"

"I most valued the integrity, transparency and generosity of the trainers, their openness to sharing their skills and experiences."

"My major learning on this training was realising that deep needs are often hidden and unexpressed. I've come away with a desire to listen to others more deeply and openly."

"What the trainers offered on this program far exceeded my expectations. What I received was deeply rewarding, experiences that I'll cherish always. They truly modelled leadership from an NVC perspective."

"Such novelty, hope, revelation, promise and joy!"

Feedback from the 2007 Findhorn NVC Intensive:

"I started not only to understand NVC but to really feel what connecting with oneself and with other people means"

"This training was fantastic and full of learning for me. Thank you for co-creating this sense of harmony, equality, caring and freedom."

"After Findhorn I am used to a learning environment where no question remained unanswered, no need unmet."
